100mg of Clomid on days 3-7 was very good to me. I am so glad that I went with my instinct and decided to try it before going straight to Follistim. This cycle cost me $250 total (meds and ultrasound) whereas a Follistim cycle would have easily been $700-1,000 for the first round.
I had four good follicles! We triggered with Ovidrel so it’s time to officially TTC!!
My endometrium has not gotten any thicker (it was only a 5), but it was shown as trilaminar, meaning it’s like an oreo cookie (three layers) and is great for implantation. I am going to credit the red raspberry leaf tea for that one because not once have I had a lining that looked this promising. I don’t know why I can’t get it any thicker, but I am going to just hope that the health of it will trump the thickness.
Our chance for twins right now is very exciting. I am trying to not get my hopes up, considering we have a hard enough time catching one egg as it is, but I welcome the thought of twins with open arms. We do have a spare room with two closets…
Yay! I am so flippin excited for you!
Thank you!!!
Wish the lining was better, but those follicles are fantastic! Are you on progesterone? I would ask for it to help the lining in the LP, and maybe more estrogen. It should thicken up more by Ov though π Good luck! So excited that it worked so well!
Actually, I DO have progesterone! I have 300mg prometrium (I have a lot, my OB hooked me up back in April just in case I ever need it), so my plan was to start it 2x/day after I am certain I already ovulated. If not tomorrow, then Friday I will start. π My P4 is next Tuesday!! YAY we’re cycle buddies!! π
Woot! Glad they hooked you up! Really hoping this is your cycle. I hope it’s both our cycles, that would be fantastic. I’m going to be stalking you now π In a good way. I’ll be starting my progesterone too, at 3dpo, and should Ov tomorrow. I think your follicles look great, especially for Clomid- that’s about where they want them. You triggered right? That’ll give an additional boost and help things too, plus it’ll get all the follicles going instead of just one or two. So excited for you, really π
Yep, we triggered with Ovidrel, which I haven’t used before. We used Novarel with Zoey. So far, I am having a hard time pain-wise. I think I am dealing with OHSS, to be honest. I’m in a lot of pain today and it’s not normal feeling, it’s pretty intense. Just going to drink a lot of water and try to relax.
I always got really bad ovulation pains with 2 or more follicles, the more there were the worse it was. On V’s cycle I’m pretty sure I had mild OHSS (E2 was about 2,000, and 6-7 mature follicles… ouch).
Take it easy, and drink stuff with electrolytes in it (like Gatorade or Smartwater). Last night I made sure I had Smartwater on hand… I’ve already downed one today! Starting to have pains myself and getting uncomfortable.
Keep an eye out for signs of OHSS though, like bloating (like making you look 5 months pregnant) and sudden weight gain of 5lbs or more. Even without OHSS it will be uncomfortable since you had 4 follicles, that’s a lot of fluid to be released into the abdomen during ovulation. Plus your ovaries are going to be quite large, and then turn those follicles into cysts for the LP… really, take it easy and down some water and stay hydrated. Hopefully it’ll pass within a day or two!
Oh my goodness! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I am so, incredibly happy for you, and will be praying hard. Thank you for keeping us all in the loop. I can’t wait for the next update!!!
Thanks, Logan!! I am excited!!
Just read your comment above about hyperstimulation. So sorry… I know it is painful!!! They told me to drink A LOT, and to drink Gatorade instead of water. They also told me to avoid carbs and eat protein. They said if you tummy feels too full to eat, just nibble a lot throughout the day, but make sure you are nibbling on foods that are high in protein.
Thanks so much for the tips on that. I feel pretty certain I am dealing with hyperstim right now. The pain is beyond what I ever felt with Clomid back in the day. I need to get Gatorade… I just ate some almond butter on a banana and that helped me a lot, although that is a LOT of carb right there. I will stay hydrated.
Praying for you, my friend!
Hello! Just found your blog while searching other blogs about PCOS. So far I love what I have read!!! That is great news about how many follicles you have! I too am on Clomid 100mg 3-7 but I don’t think mine is working
Do you see an OB-GYN or RE? I am only asking because my OB said if I don’t respond to this round she sends me to infertility. She is only doing 7dpo bloodwork so I am kind of lost as to what to ask for and where to go from here. This is all new for me. Sorry if this is too much, feel free to email me privately, I just feel so alone and uneducated in all of this. If anyone has advice or encouragement I would love to hear some. Praying that you catch atleast one egg!!!
Aww, I am glad you found me here! I do see an OB, but she is unlike any other, she knows her infertility stuff, whereas it is pretty typically for an OB to refer you to an RE because that is all an RE does – their goal is to get you pregnant as quickly as possible. Your OB isn’t doing ultrasounds? If not, I would definitely question her. In my opinion, it isn’t safe to hand out Clomid or Femara like candy and not monitor, just in case you hyperstim. How can they ensure you are responding correctly without taking a look, ya know? It’s needed. You might just need to try 150mg of Clomid next time. The 7dpo bloodwork is normal, that is to check your P4 (progesterone) to ensure you ovulated… but still, that ultrasound is necessary for your safety. You are certainly NOT alone!! I am happy to chat with you more about all this. It can be so scary. Comment any time and we can chat! You can do this!
Just wanted to check on how you’re feeling today!
Aww thank you for checking in!! I am actually feeling a ton better compared to the other day. I still feel bloated but not as bad and I’m back to normal PCOS twinges/random pains, not NEAR what it was the other day. I also think that because of the trigger, I O’d two days in a row, lol! I know that sounds weird but it seems pretty likely based on my chart and my two super dark OPKs, and the pain… it just lines up! But thank you, I do feel a lot better. π Just tired and a little uncomfortable, but not in tears!
Can’t trust OPKs after triggering though, since HCG turns them positive π I think it’s possible you could Ov over the course of two days since there were so many follicles though. I’m glad you’re feeling better! I was really bad off last night, still sore/tender today but MUCH better. I hope that over the next day or two you’ll feel a lot better π Really hoping this is it for you!
[…] with how this cycle has gone. I am thankful that I had two great looking follicles,Β in lieu of the FOUR I had last cycle. I have felt a lot better (minus the stomach flu that seams to have done a number on my intestines. […]
